Why I writeThe longer I spend in fandom, the more I write for myself. I have no aspirations of being (professionally) published, and am happy to play around in other people's sandboxes.That said, a lot of what I do write (besides the PWPs) is about creating things I don't see in canon. I tend to ship rarepairs and subscribe pretty heavily to camp "throw out canon if you don't like it." Recently I've become more blatant about embedding asexuality spectrum rep and various personal beliefs into fics, even if it's in a single throwaway line.On my writing processI'm a "make it up as you go" writer, which means no plot outlines (unless it's extremely high level) and no jumping around from scene to scene. I write completely linearly. Most of the enjoyment I get out of writing is figuring out what happens next, so meticulous plotting makes me instantly lose interest in completing a work.I almost never use betas because 1) I constantly re-read and edit my own work, and 2) I am super impatient and will often post immediately after I finish something.One 'hazard' of of my process is that I rarely write longfic or extremely plotty fic, often because I lose interest before I can finish.Unusual mediumsFandom is such a creative space, people do amazing things all the time. I really like works done with unusual mediums.Interactive fiction (choose your own adventure, visual novel games) is my 'unusual' fic medium of choice. I have made them with Twine and Ren'Py.ReadingHighly recommend curating your content to show what you want to see. I mute and block fairly liberally, will not be offended if you do so to me.On AO3 I use a variety of Tampermonkey scripts, and particularly rec ao3 savior with the associated config file. I also like showing the kudos/hits ratio & being able to view which fics I've already kudosed/seen on the navigation page.
